Holds Major Conference On 'CORPORATE HOMICIDE AND SAFETY LAW ENFORCEMENT'

With a new Corporate Homicide offence effective in Scotland from April 2008, the Centre For Corporate Accountability (CCA) are organising a conference which looks at the impact that this new offence will have on safety and accountability in Scotland, and what changes will be required in  the investigation and sentencing process to make it work.

The adequacy of formal enforcement by the HSE and local authorities, and whether there is a need for further reform on directors' responsibilities will also be discussed. The conference will also consider the key issues at the heart of the public inquiry into the ICL/Stockline disaster which is just about to start.

The coinference, sponsored by STUC and Thompsons Scotland, takes place on Friday 16 May 2008 at the Trades Hall, 85 Glasford Street, Glasgow G1
